The Zemplén Museum in Szerencs also has a book collection of four-thousand and four-hundred pieces, these were donated to the institute, and the collection continously grows. When dr. Petrikovits László donated his postcardcollection to the town, his other collections also passed into public ownership, this way the museum received his valuable books. Pesti László has also donated to the museum, he gave several hundred of his books to the collection. In the 1970s and 80s the museum had the opportunity to purchase historical and ethnographic literature, in these years the number of specialized literature in the collection increased. There are approx. two-hundred and fifty valuable books, that are older than hundred years, they are a very important part of the collection. Literature about the local history of Szerencs also can be found in the collection in form of old books and publishings, very interesting in this regard are the volumes of the Tokaj-Hegyalja journal. We handle the material published about our collections (postcard, ex libris) with special care, we collect them separately.
The bookcollection is not a public library, we can't lend books, but we offer the oppurtunity to research. Please let us know beforehand, if you would like to work with our books.
Research hours: Monday to Thursday, 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
